Introduction to Adelaide
Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia, is one of the world's most beautiful and well planned cities. It is a city of 1 million people with a stable and peaceful environment.
Adelaide enjoys a moderate climate, with hot, dry summers and cool to mild winters. The average temperature ranges from 28*C in summer to 15*C in winter. With numerous parklands, picturesque hills and sandy beaches, Adelaide has a pleasant, easy and relaxed lifestyle that is suitable for learning.
Adelaide also has one of the lowest costs of living of any city in Australia. The population, whilst English speaking, includes people from many different European and Asian cultural backgrounds. The city is very multicultural and features international cultural activities and festivities.
Recreational, Medical and Shopping Facilities
Adelaide is an easy city to navigate and most areas can be accessed by car or public transport. The city is encircled by parklands that include sporting venues such as football playing fields, tennis courts, playgrounds, ovals, a race course (horse) and open space for picnics, dog walking, jogging and other recreational activities. There is also a Japanese garden.
Closer to the school there are numerous public parks and open spaces with facilities such as playgrounds, ovals, tennis courts. These are free and easy to access from the school. Recreational swimming pools set in lush botanical gardens are available for an entrance fee.
Beaches are only a 15 minute drive from the school and are also accessible by public transport.
Mercedes College is located near many business facilities including Medical Clinics, Dental Clinics, Public Library, Shopping Centres, Cinemas and Fitness Centres. These are all within walking distance. Public and Private Hospitals are also close to the school.
