International Baccalaureate
Mercedes College is one of only a few schools world-wide to offer an international curriculum for all students from Reception to Year 12 and the first to offer all three International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes in the Asia-Pacific region.
The IB offers an educational challenge that provides scope for both academic achievement and worthwhile practical activities in community service. It is a cross-cultural approach that encourages students to gain an increasing knowledge of and respect for the cultures of the world.
The concept of internationalism builds on the fundamental Christian philosophy embodied in the aims of the College - to encourage respect, to give recognition and understanding to the rights of all people and the capacity to move beyond self-interest and to serve those who stand in need.
